Spectrum sells two kinds of phone service that matter for international calls: Spectrum Mobile, its cell phone service, and Spectrum Voice, its home phone service. Both include calls to Canada and Mexico. Calls from the US to other countries are charged separately, and using a Spectrum Mobile phone abroad is free or paid depending on your plan.

The facts below come from Spectrum's international plans page, its Spectrum Voice home phone page (both checked 27 October 2026) and dated Charter Communications announcements. We could not retrieve Spectrum Mobile's per-country rate chart, so this guide does not quote Spectrum Mobile's per-minute international rates or its roaming pass prices.

Calling Canada and Mexico

Both Spectrum services cover North America:

  • Spectrum Mobile: Spectrum's current plan comparison lists 2,000 monthly international long-distance minutes from the US to Canada and Mexico on Unlimited, Unlimited Plus and Unlimited Plus Premium. Its separate Second Line service, launched in May 2026, includes unlimited talk and text in the US, Mexico and Canada.
  • Spectrum Voice: home phone service includes unlimited calling in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico, per Spectrum's home phone page (checked ).

If the people you call live in Canada or Mexico, use your included minutes first and check your plan's allowance before a long call.

Calling other countries from the US

Calls from the US to the rest of the world are not part of the included calling on either service. They are billed per minute on top of your plan, at a rate that depends on the country.

Spectrum Voice (home phone)

Spectrum Voice's international long-distance price list, linked from its home phone page, covers more than 200 countries. Its rates are low, with two limits: it lists landline prices only, and the version we found shows rates "effective 7/16/2024". The chart gives no price for calls to mobile phones, so check the rate in your Spectrum account before a long call to a mobile.

Country Spectrum Voice, to a landline (per min) CallSky (our product), landline or mobile
United Kingdom $0.02 $0.04/min
Germany $0.02 $0.06/min
India $0.02 $0.09/min
Pakistan $0.04 $0.29/min
Nigeria $0.09 $0.44/min
Philippines $0.10 $0.39/min

Spectrum Voice rates from the July 2024 price list (we could not open a current copy to re-check them on ); CallSky rates as of . For landlines in these countries, Spectrum Voice costs less than CallSky.

Spectrum Mobile

Spectrum Mobile prices international calls separately from Spectrum Voice, and we could not retrieve its rate chart. Earlier versions of this guide quoted a $5-a-month "Global Calling" add-on and sample per-minute rates for Spectrum Mobile. We could not confirm any of them from Spectrum, so we have removed them. Look up the rate for your destination in the My Spectrum app before you dial.

Using a Spectrum Mobile phone abroad

Roaming is a separate question from calling abroad: it is about where your phone is, not the number you dial. What Spectrum includes depends on your plan, according to Charter's 22 July 2026 plan comparison:

Plan Roaming included High-speed roaming data
Unlimited Not included None included
Unlimited Plus Free roaming in 215+ countries and destinations Speeds reduced after 10 GB
Unlimited Plus Premium Free roaming with calls and texts in 215+ countries and destinations, including Canada and Mexico 20 GB a month

Unlimited Plus Premium costs $50 a month per line on a multi-line account or $60 for a single line, per the same announcement. On the base Unlimited plan, roaming is charged, so check the price for your destination before you travel or keep data roaming off.

Wi-Fi changes the picture on any plan. A call placed over Wi-Fi with an internet calling app does not use the roaming network at all. For more on how that works, see what Wi-Fi calling is.

Where a calling app fits

If you have Spectrum Voice and mostly call landlines, its per-minute rates are lower than ours, and you should use them. A calling app that dials ordinary landlines and mobiles over the internet is more useful for calls to mobiles, which the Spectrum Voice chart does not price, and for international calls from a Spectrum Mobile phone, whose rates you will find only in your account.

CallSky is our product, so weigh this with that in mind. It works on iPhone, Android and in a web browser, with pay-as-you-go credit and no subscription, and it charges the same rate for landlines and mobiles. At the rates in the table above, a 30-minute call to a mobile in India costs $2.70 and a 30-minute call to a mobile in the Philippines costs $11.70. For other US carriers, see our guide to the AT&T international plan.

Common questions about Spectrum international calling

Does Spectrum Mobile include calls to Canada and Mexico?

Yes. Spectrum's current Unlimited, Unlimited Plus and Unlimited Plus Premium plans list 2,000 monthly minutes from the US to Canada and Mexico. Spectrum Voice home phone service includes unlimited calling to Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico. Calls to other countries are charged separately.

Can I use an app like CallSky and keep my Spectrum plan?

Yes. Keep Spectrum for domestic calls, texts and data, and open CallSky (our product) when you need to call overseas over Wi-Fi or mobile data. Nothing on your Spectrum plan changes.

Is the call quality on internet calling apps any good?

With a stable connection, yes. The main requirement is a decent Wi-Fi signal or a few bars of mobile data.

How do I start using CallSky with my Spectrum phone?

Download the CallSky app or open the web app, create an account and add credit, starting at $5. Credit doesn't expire, and there is no contract or subscription.
